"She returns home"
August 30 is celebrated as International Frankenstein Day in honor of the British writer Mary Shelley. She published the bestseller "Frankenstein or The Modern Prometheus" in 1818. In her novel, Victor Frankenstein, a student at the university in Ingolstadt, creates the first human-like artificial intelligence. Because of its appearance, the creation is expelled, roams Europe and eventually becomes a famous film character in Hollywood. The myth grows worldwide, but the creation finally wants to return to Ingolstadt in search of its identity. Come with us on a search for clues and show the creation that it has found its new old home in Ingolstadt on the first Ingolstadt Frankenstein Day.

  • Ingolstadt City Museum

    On Frankenstein Day, children aged 6 and over can spend the night in the city museum. Among other things, there will be a child-friendly guided tour of the museum, a craft workshop and scary good-night stories.   • Frankenstein City Experience

    The location marketing and tourism team is currently working with an external service provider to develop a time-independent guided tour for guests and locals. A test version of the tour will be available for Frankenstein Day on August 30. An "Interactive Frankenstein XR Tour" can be started via smartphone. Without any app or costs. Participants are guided along a route to the locations of the novel and receive information about Frankenstein and Ingolstadt in general, peppered with augmented reality scenes.
